Grandiflora Sweet Pea Shrub

Polygala myrtifolia Grandiflora is one of the parents of the much better-known P. x dalmaisiana but much larger flowered and more ornamental. It grows into a round, bushy shrub, ultimately growing about 4-6 ft. tall and similar in width. It has deep green and softly shiny foliage, presenting a lush, tropical look. The flowers are dark violet in color, and produced nearly year-round. The wing-like structure of the flowers gives them the appearance of little butterflies, or perhaps sweet peas. It can be sheared into a hedge and can also be used as a screening plant.
